There are a lot of gift guides with experience gift ideas, but I wanted to create a gift idea list with some different options. So along with Experience Gifts, you will also find the following categories in this post:

Consumable Gift Ideas

Experience Gift Ideas

Experiences are a great go-to for clutter free gift ideas. They are fun and create memories that last a lifetime. They are perfect when you are gift shopping for someone that doesn’t need anything or has a lot of stuff already.

Experiences can be as simple as giving movie tickets or as extravagant as giving a vacation. No matter if you are giving simple or extravagant experiences, there is no doubt that these gifts won’t create more clutter for the receiver.

More experience gift ideas:

  • Tickets to a sporting event or concert
  • Membership to a zoo or museum
  • Spa Day/Gift Card for a spa treatment
  • Movie Tickets
  • Cooking Class
  • Tickets to a Broadway Style Show
  • Gift card to a local arcade or virtual reality experience
  • Ice Skating
  • Horseback riding trail ride
  • Trampoline Park Tickets
  • Kid Computer Coding Classes or day camp – Code Ninjas is a great option for this and they have locations all over the country.

Useful Gadgets Gift Ideas That Don’t Create Clutter

This category includes “things” that you can gift, but I see them as practical gifts that will get used without creating clutter or collecting dust. Oh, and they are fun too!

With that said, know who you are giving the gift to. If there is no way they would read a book on a Kindle, it will collect dust and create clutter. However, if your 12 year old reads a book a week and you can’t keep up with their book supply, a Kindle might be the perfect gift.

These items might also be good if you are creating your own gift idea list. We have family members that aren’t fans of gifting experiences because they want us to have something to open (yes, I know you can wrap up a picture of the experience, but they insist on things). So if you have someone that wants to buy you things, you can use this list for ideas of useful things you can ask for.

  • Echo Show 15 – This is the largest Alexa device so far, and so useful! It is big enough that you can see your calendar at a glance so the whole family is on the same page. It also displays pictures, you can watch shows on it, and control your smart home. It can be hung on a wall or mounted under your cabinets, so it is not creating clutter on a surface. It is a great family gift.
  • Echo Dot – This is the smallest Alexa device, and perfect for kids. They can listen to audio books or music. If you have other Echo devices in the home, it can be used as an intercom. There are also parental controls if you are giving this to a child. It has a small foot print, so it doesn’t create more clutter. You can also get a handy outlet mount, so it doesn’t even have to sit on a surface.
  • Kindle – Another great Amazon device that we have given and received as gifts. Take your books everywhere, and the screen is easier on the eyes than a normal phone or tablet. You can also read in the dark without an extra light. Many libraries let you check out Kindle books on the Libby app, so you can read for free!
  • Automatic Soap Dispenser – This is a practical gift, perfect for the person that has everything. It’s so handy to have an automatic soap dispenser in the kitchen when you have messy hands, or for kids that have trouble pushing down on regular soap dispensers. The minimalist design also looks nice.
  • Robot Vacuum – Make chores easier for someone you love. This vacuum works well, has an easy to use app, and goes in straight lines (I’ve heard that’s an issue with another popular brand robot vacuum!). Oh, and it also has a mopping feature! I know some people don’t think vacuums should be gifts, but I’m not one of those people. 😂
  • Rocketbook – This is for the person that has post-it notes and scraps of paper everywhere. It is a reusable notebook that also has an app that you can upload your notes to a desired place in the cloud. It’s a great way to reduce paper clutter!
  • ID Pouch – These adorable ID Pouches by JOYN are fair trade and sustainably made. They are a practical gift for teenagers or women in your life that need a small pouch to carry their ID, a credit card and keys. They would also make a nice teacher gift. Use code: simphome for 25% off!
  • Heated Vest – If you are gifting to someone in a colder climate, these are awesome! Perfect for sitting outside at cold soccer games (or football, baseball, etc!).

Consumables Gift Ideas

Consumables are gifts that get used up. Oftentimes they will be food items. Once they are used, they are gone, and you don’t have to worry about the clutter.

This is another case of knowing your gift recipient. If you give them a consumable gift they won’t use, it may sit in their home and become clutter that you didn’t intend on.

My parents love coffee, but they don’t like flavored coffee. I looked in their cabinet one day and saw a couple bags of hazelnut coffee, so I asked them about it. They said it was a gift. But they just kept it in their cabinet, utilizing valuable real estate, even though they were never going to drink it.

  • Bake a batch of cookies or favorite treat
  • Coffee or tea – You can buy a coffee or tea gift locally, or Amazon has some cute gift sets.
  • Hot Chocolate Bombs – You can either make your own or find some at a local bakery.
  • Flowers – This Wax Amaryllis is a great Christmas gift. We received one for Christmas once and it is the perfect flower. It provides some beauty for the holiday season, doesn’t require watering, and there is no clutter left when it is done blooming.
  • Steak/Meat BundleButcher box will deliver high quality meat and seafood right to your loved one’s door. Omaha Steaks is another option for gifting meat.

  • The Seasonal Whisper Mail Subscription – This is perfect gift for someone that enjoys simple living. Four times a year they will receive snail mail with letters, recipes, and ideas for simple living. It is truly a joy to receive in the mail. I consider this a “consumable gift” because once you read the letter, it can be recycled or passed along to a friend.
  • Kiwi Co – This company has kids activity boxes for all ages. You can gift a subscription or a single box. They come with all of the supplies you need in a tidy box that can be disposed when you are done.

Digital Gift Ideas

Digital products or online courses are unique gift ideas that fun and exciting for the recipient. There are plenty of subscriptions or online courses that work great as gifts. Here are some of my favorites.

  • Plan to eat  If you have someone on your gift list who loves to cook or bake, this is a great subscription. It is basically an online recipe book where you can store recipes that you actually use, but it also has a meal planner and shopping list. Recipes from the internet are easily imported into the planner. (Get 20% off an annual subscription) I have given this as a gift before, and the year starts when they actually sign up for Plan to Eat, not when you purchase it. So you can buy it before you actually give it.
  • DIY Family Film (Get over 50% off with this link!) This is such a fun course, and would be a great gift for a mom or put it on your list for yourself. Learn to take amazing family films with your phone! I have definitely stepped up my family videos since taking this course!
  • Audible Membership  Audible memberships are great for kids or adults that listen to audiobooks. If they have a phone, tablet, or Alexa device, they can listen to an audiobook. Gifts can be 3, 6, or 12 month subscriptions to fit different budgets.
  • Kindle Unlimited Subscription If you are buying for someone that loves to read and has a Kindle, this is a great gift! Kindle Unlimited will give the gift receiver access to over 1 million ebooks and thousands of audiobooks. You can also gift individual ebooks to someone. Amazon will email a link to the recipient on the date you want it delivered.
  • Netflix or Disney+ Subscription Give the gift of TV and movies without the clutter. Netflix is a little easier to gift, because you can pick up a gift card at Target or on Amazon, and the recipient can either set up a new account, or add it to their account if they already have Netflix. Disney+ gift subscriptions only work if they don’t already have Disney+ and you have to gift a whole year at a time. With that said, it makes a great gift for a family.
  • Art Spot Studio Online Art lessons are a great gift for people of all ages. Art Spot Studio has lessons perfect for beginners and kids. Each lesson is self-paced, and includes a supply list.
